On Friday the Swift Current Kiwanis Club held it's annual Christmas meeting.

This year's meeting was a little more special than most, as the Kiwanis club honored one of it's longest reigning members.

The club honored Len Martinowski, who was a member for 43 years before resigning from the club earlier this year in September.

Martinowski, who has lived in Swift Current since 1955 said he was humbled to be honored.

"It makes me proud of what all has been done for the community, and I've been happy doing it over the years," he said. "The Kiwanis name has been well known throughout the community, and I'm quite proud of that.

Martinowski said that he had many fond moments of his time in the club, but the fun Olympics was one that stood out.

"The fun Olympics was a great project," he said. "We had a lot of fun putting it on, and it seemed to serve the community quite well, and the members seemed to enjoy coming to the fun Olympics."

Martinowski added that he joined the club back in 1974 because he knew people within the club and wanted to help out in the community.

At the meeting, the Kiwanis club also made a donation of $1,549 to the Salvation Army.
