The NDP is promising to build a major interchange on a busy stretch of the Trans-Canada near Regina if they win next Monday's election.

The party says the $35 million interchange would be constructed east of the city in the vicinity of White City, Emerald Park and Pilot Butte.

It's an area known for having a high number of accidents.

Party Leader Dwain Lingenfelter says the cost of the project is already built into the full NDP platform, which was released last week.

Meanwhile, The Saskatchewan Party government committed to begin work immediately on the establishment of a Global Institute for Food Security at the University of Saskatchewan.

Premier Brad Wall said the Saskatchewan Party has committed $1 million in next year's budget to establish the new global institute.

The mandate of the facility for Food Security would be to focus on two main questions:

How can we expand the supply and quality of food, now and for the next century? and How can we ensure that food gets to those who need it most?
