The Cypress Health Region is taking precautions after the possible malfunction of an instrument used in the sterilization of hospital equipment.

CEO of the Health Region, Jim Hornell says they have addressed the situation in Leader and are taking the next necessary steps. They have since removed the equipment in question and replaced it with new equipment.

Also, all minor surgery equipment used in Leader has been shipped to Swift Current for re-sterilization.

Hornell adds the Health Region has been contacting clients who had minor surgery at the Leader Hospital between January 1st and August 13th of this year.
