For the second straight day, the Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires bested the visiting Battlefords Stars in a close contest.

Swift Current followed up a 5-4 overtime win on Saturday night with a 6-4 win on Sunday afternoon at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex continuing their strong start to the season.

The first period was a near carbon copy of yesterday's game with the Legionnaires jumping out to an early 2-0 lead on goals this time from forwards Bryant Linklater and Rowan Martin-Bryk.

Before the frame ended, however, the Stars would get on the board.

Hometown Hudson Darby replenished Swift Current's lead back to two goals just over two minutes into the second period.

The Stars wouldn't waste a ton of time erasing the deficit although, scoring a pair of markers within 61 seconds of each other around the midway point of the game.

Legionnaires defenceman Nick Smolinski would score his first goal with the club in two seasons pushing Swift Current to a 4-3 lead at the end of the second period.

The Stars would once again respond, this time on a powerplay, just 91 seconds into the last frame.

Swift Current forward Eric Hoiness netted the game-winner with 6:22 left in the game and Noah Mitchell would add an insurance marker to round out the scoring.

Legionnaires goalie Brayden Schenstead picked up his third win on the season making 35 saves in the game.

With the win, Swift Current is now 5-2 on the campaign and will welcome the 6-2 Prince Albert Mintos to the iPlex next Saturday night.
