The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires edged the Prince Albert Mintos 2-1 at Innovationplex on Sunday afternoon to come all the way back from down two games to none and win their best-of-five first-round playoff series 3-2.

After a scoreless first period, Jackson Fox got the Legionnaires on the board 2:43 into the middle frame and Kayd Ruedig made it 2-0 with 9:37 left in the second. Will Whitter scored on a penalty shot in the third period to put Prince Albert on the board, but the Legionnaires held on for the victory in the winner-take-all game.

Berney Weston made 33 saves for the victory as the Mintos outshot Swift Current 36-34.

The fourth-seeded Legionnaires advance to the SMAAAHL semi-final to face the second-seeded Regina Pat Canadians, who defeated the Moose Jaw WINMAR Warriors 3-1 in their series. The other semi-final will see the top-ranked Saskatoon Blazers, who won their series over the Estevan Bears in four games, face the sixth-place Tisdale Trojans, who completed a reverse sweep of their own with a 7-3 win in a decisive game five against the Warman Wildcats on Sunday.
