Shaunavon EMS and local fire crews were called out at about 5:00pm this past Wednesday afternoon to a lightning strike at an oil field battery located 16 kilometers north of Shaunavon.

The natural gas tank was hit by lightning and fire crews worked about four or five hours to put it out. A family was also evacuated from the farm yard a short distance away just as a precaution.

Merrick Goldstein from the Shaunavon Fire Department said there were no injuries reported
