A new warning has been issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, regarding a brand of sandwiches that may be contaminated with Listeria.

The CFIA says Hygaard brand sandwiches have been voluntarily removed from shelves because of fears they may be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes.  That is the same bacteria that's at the centre of an outbreak that killed 18 people in Canada and prompted a major food recall.

The CFIA adds that the Hygaard recall is not linked to the recall of Maple Leaf Foods products, which were found to be tainted with the bacteria.

Hygaard sandwiches affected by this latest recall carry a Best Before date of October 24th, up to and including November 16th.
