court winter

The court proceedings for a local hockey coached charged with sexual assault has been adjourned until April 13th after his first appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court today.

39-year-old Ryan Chamberlin faces charges of sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference, and sexual exploitation, and additional charges were placed on the bench today in relation to other victims.

At the Crown's request, a publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the victims.

The charges came after Maple Creek RCMP received a complaint from the parent of a male youth who had confronted his parents about inappropriate interactions with an adult male.

RCMP have determined the accused was a hockey coach with work extending into several southern Saskatchewan communities.

Investigators are asking parents of children who had contact with Chamberlin to ask if there were any uncomfortable interactions between them, and report any information to Swift Current RCMP.
