A new face to the political race but a familiar one in the community, Sheldon Reinhart will be among those running for a seat on city council.

The General Manager of Elmwood Golf Course has lived in Swift Current from a young age and over the past few years has become passionate about politics.

In terms of issues the city should be focusing on, Reinhart believes new business incentives is key.

"It's offering new business incentives to come to Swift Current and grow their business and create jobs for the residents and right now that's what we are going to need after COVID is getting people back to work and getting more jobs in Swift Current and to do that we're going to have to maybe offer some better business incentives to try and spur people to start businesses."

Reinhart's platform is focused on hearing the needs and wants of the community.

"I'm more about just having my ears open and I want to be the person people can bounce ideas or thoughts off of and it's something that I feel and many other people feel, those are the things I am going to bring to city council."

Although Reinhart may be new to the political race, he has over a decade's worth of experience in the boardroom, after being at Elmwood Golf Course for 21 years.

Reinhart believes we need to continue to grow Swift Current in a way that doesn't handcuff us financially in cases of emergency like COVID.

According to Reinhart in regards to running for council, he says it's not about what he wants, but what the people of Swift Current want.
