A large crowd takes in last month's grand opening of the downtown Market Square in Swift Current
What better way to kick off the long weekend than a trip to the Market Square in downtown Swift Current?
The event has been held every Saturday for the last month at the corner of Central Avenue North and Chaplin Street, and is the brainchild of the city's Chief Administrative Officer Susan Motkaluk. She says so far, the Market Square has been phenomenal and it has been gaining momentum as they are getting more and more vendors out, and adds they are finally getting the farm produce out with the Hodgeville Colony providing the veggies.
Motkaluk says they started the Market Square to bring more people to the downtown, and it has worked.
There will be a special guest at the Market Square today, with the Eliminators Car Club showing off some of their classic vehicles through the day.
The Market Square is open every Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm until September 24.
