There was some wild weather in parts of southwest Saskatchewan over the Victoria Day long weekend.

Visitors and campers to Cypress Hills Park woke up to a massive snowfall on Saturday.

Dave and Mona Mitchell from Shaunavon own a cottage at Cypress.  Mona says the snow started early Saturday morning, "About 6am Saturday morning, I got up and looked out the window, and there was great big snowflakes coming down, and it progressed on until there was a good foot and a half of snow, and it kept on and on until the afternoon.  All together, there was at least two feet of snow.  The whole park was blanketed.  People had brought their campers in, and I understand they were just leaving them there."

The snow caused problems for many cabin owners and campers who were snowed in until plows were able to clear roads.

The snow only lasted one day, and Mitchell says, by Sunday the sun was shining again and the snow was melting.
