Former Swift Current Broncos coach and convicted sex offender Graham James
Manitoba's Conservative justice critic is pushing for an appeal of Graham James' sentence.
The former Swift Current Broncos coach pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting NHL star Theo Fleury and former Bronco Todd Holt while they played for him, and was sentenced to two years in jail.
Opposition MLA Kelvin Goertzen called the sentence appaling and reminded Attorney General Andrew Swan that the Crown had only 15 more days to appeal.
But a spokesperson for Swan says he is not involved in the decision to appeal specific cases, and added the opposition is trying to garner a cheap political hit with a very serious issue before the courts.
