Mosaic Stadium, the home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, will play host to the legendary Paul McCartney later this summer

The 2013 Juno Awards just wrapped up in Moose Jaw and Regina, the Memorial Cup is coming to Saskatoon and, later this fall, Saskatchewan looks forward to hosting the 2013 Grey Cup.

"There may be others who wonder aloud how we pull off all these things in Saskatchewan these days," Premier Brad Wall joked before announcing the next major event coming to our province.

"I'm very, very pleased to confirm today that Paul McCartney is coming..."

The speculation, fueled by a billboard that flashed the name of McCartney's current tour, was confirmed when the premier, Live Nation and Mosaic Stadium made the announcement Monday.

"This is the first time Paul McCartney has ever performed in Saskatchewan and we know people are going to be looking forward to this... here's a chance for Saskatchewan people, western Canadians to come to Regina and check out a pioneer in international rock and roll and pop music."

Tickets for the August 14th show, which range in price from $35 to $250, go on sale to the general public next Monday but fans who register at paulmccartney.com get first crack this Thursday.

With recent renovations the concert will accommodate more than 40,000 fans, according to Neil Donnelly of Evraz Place.  The home of the Roughriders has been converted into a major concert venue before.  Since 2006, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Bon Jovi have all played the venue.
