A Wednesday night trip to Moose Jaw produced a much more one-sided win than the score may suggest for the Abbey Resources Midget AA Broncos.

The third-place Broncos were battling the 13th/last-place Warriors, earning an 8-5 victory.

Swift Current used two goals in the final eight minutes of the first period to carry a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Two more goals were piled on the board in the first four minutes of the middle frame for the resounding four-goal lead.

Moose Jaw finally got their first goal with a little over eight minutes left in the period, but Swift Current quickly rebounded with another two of their own to carry a 6-1 lead into the final frame.

The Warriors and Midget Broncos each struck one in the first half of the period to keep it at a five-goal lead for Swift Current, though Moose Jaw found life late, adding goals with 7:54 and 5:13 remaining.

Swift Current countered almost immediately to make it 8-4 just 29 seconds later. The fifth-and-final goal the Warriors scored came with just five second left and on the powerplay.

Dayne Feicht was busy offensively, leading the team with a goal and three assists, while Vicent Pinsonneault had a 22-save win at the other end for Swift.

Kole Giesbrecht had two goals and three points, with two-point efforts from Davis Hunter (2 G), Carter Lamotte (1 G, 1 A), Ethan Hilbig (1 G, 1 A), and Rhett Dekowny (2 A). Colton Leahy also chipped in a goal for the Midget AA Broncos.

Swift Current is up to 19-5-1-1 and in that third-place position as mentioned.

They get two games on home ice this weekend, welcoming the Regina Rangers to Fairview West. Saturday's game has a 7:45 p.m. start time, while Sunday's is underway at 3:15 p.m.
