Over 12,000 minimum wage earners in the province will be making a little more money in the New Year.

Tomorrow marks the first of three increases in the minimum wage in Saskatchewan, from $7.95 per hour to $8.25.

Rob Norris is the Minister of Advanced Education, Employment, and Labour.  He says the increase is part of the government's goal to bring the number of higher-paying jobs in the province up, and to help build on the economy.

Minimum wage will rise again on May 1, 2008, to $8.60 per hour, followed by a third increase to $9.25 per hour on May 1, 2009.

The increase in minimum wage follows a review by the Minimum Wage Board, who is required by legislation to review the minimum wage at least every two years.
