The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health is looking for help when it comes to managing outbreaks in care homes.

The ministry has issued an expression of interest for emergency staffing of personal care homes in the province. This is to help address challenges that have come up in the personal care home sector in the province in dealing with the outbreaks of COVID-19. The ministry is looking to secure an emergency response staffing team that would consist primarily of care aides, along with coordination support and oversight. They would be deployed throughout the province on short notice to help with staffing issues that come up due to COVID-19 outbreaks.

The expression of interest was posted to SaskTenders on February 16th and has a closing date of April 30th.

The move comes as the province deals with 14 long-term and personal care homes, both private and Saskatchewan Health Authority-run facilities, that have had at least one case of COVID-19 amongst staff and residents in the past two weeks.
