Next year's Swift Current Comp Colts football team is getting some reps in this week.

Last night the Swift Current Minor Football (SCMF) spring camp kicked off for players in grade eight thru 11.

Matt Nicholson, the vice-president of SCMF, said he thought the camp would be a great way for students to end the school year.

"When the province started opening things up, that the school boards and a lot of the teachers just want to get to the end of the year and get this madness over," he said. "So I approached the minor board with an idea of just taking it on... So we can give some normality back to the kids."

Forty-one players signed up for the camp and they'll practice again tonight, tomorrow and Thursday.

"We will be doing a lot of individual stuff, a lot of teamwork, no different than if we had been working with the high school or with the bantam football team," he said. "It's just like everything else you do in your life, practice makes proficient and so we will be working with a lot of fundamentals."

On Friday the Jr. Varsity squad will play a scrimmage in Moose Jaw.
