Chamberlin heading into court

Ryan Chamberlin was sentenced in Swift Current Provincial Court yesterday for 5 years for sexually abusing 4 children over 22 years. Chamberlain pleaded guilty to his crimes including 3 counts of sexual assault and a count of sexual immorality.

A mother of one of the victims thanked the other 3 victims for stepping forward with their testimonies. She said, "Sentencing guidelines need to change, these people take a child's soul and like Ryan Chamberlin who already had prior record, 88 percent re-offend."

The mother feels that school divisions, minor sports and other youth centred organizations need better guidelines to identify predators in their midst. Chamberlin was working as a private sports coach when these events occurred.

Chamberlin pleaded guilty of his crimes which were compared by Judge Karl Bazin to former Bronco coach Graham James.
