The start of last year's MS Walk in Swift Current

The Saskatchewan Blue Cross MS Walk happens this Sunday in Swift Current to help raise money for those with Multiple Sclerosis.

"The MS walk across Canada is the MS Society's biggest fundraising event," said Janet Nicholson, Communications Manager for the MS Society of Canada's Saskatchewan Division. "In Saskatchewan, the walk raised over $700,000 in 2011. We're projecting about the same amount for this year, and the money raised goes to support MS programs and research in Saskatchewan."

Nicholson adds the walk has a new slogan this year, "Lace Up for Someone You Love": "We wanted to show the public that MS affects many people across Canada. One in two people in Canada knows someone with MS, and there really is a personal and community connection there. Your impact can make a difference, it might be on a friend, a family member, a co-worker, someone you just happen to know."

The walk will begin from Ashley Park Hall with registration at 12:00 noon. You can get more information or register for the walk by visiting mswalks.ca.
