A portion of an announced $2 million is on its way to Saskatchewan municipalities to help sustain their recycling programs.

Here in Swift Current, the program has managed to remain in fairly good shape with the City being able to keep costs low by shipping their product locally to the UFR plant.

Engineering Assistant Dan Knutson says it's not so easy for other municipalities.  He says other municipalities have to ship their paper much further, which costs more and doesn't allow them to sell their paper for the same low price that Swift Current does.

Knutson adds, while the funding may help temporarily, it may not be enough for several communities.
