The Cypress Health Region is bracing itself for another season of West Nile Virus.

The mosquito known to carry the Culex Tarsalis virus is starting to be spotted around the southwest.

Medical Health Officer, Dr Khami Chokani says despite no human cases in Saskatchewan yet, south in North Dakota the problem has already started.  He says they already have human cases and one equine case.  Dr Chokani says it's just a matter of time until it crosses the border.

Chokani advises the public to eliminate any standing water on their property in order to decrease the number of breeding grounds for the mosquitoes.
