The City of Swift Current is extending an invite to come to an open gym this evening at the Stockade Building.

The Open Gym will run from 6:30-8:30pm and have plenty of activities available for kids all ages.  It will run in conjunction with Screen-Free Week, but will also be a celebration of the after-school Active Play Program that was put together for elementary age students at each of the four elementary schools in Swift Current.

"The goal of the program is to provide a safe and supervised program for children so they can be physically active, but also learn about wellness and nutrition," said Val Choo Foo, the In Motion Coordinator for the City of Swift Current, "we have also partnered up with Cypress Health, Chelsey Brown who is a nutritionist, she comes out and provides a healthy snack for the students, and she follows it up with some nutrition games."

The program was launched this year by the Cypress Health Region, Chinook and Holy Trinity School Divisions, Jump Start, and the City of Swift Current, and over 200 students are currently registered and take part.
