A man believed to have stolen a truck in Alberta and then took license plates from a vehicle in Swift Current this month has been arrested in northern Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police found the stolen truck unoccupied in the ditch along a highway east of Fort Frances on January 11th. They said the truck was stolen from Olds, Alberta on January 7th, and it had a Saskatchewan license plate that was stolen from Swift Current on January 8th. The OPP Rainy River detachment was working with Swift Current RCMP on the investigation, and they also put a call out for information from the public.

The day after police discovered the truck, they arrested 23-year-old Jordan Lynn McConnell of British Columbia in Wawa, Ontario in connection with a theft of fuel at a business in nearby White River. OPP investigators later determined that the suspect was the alleged driver of the stolen truck found at Fort Frances.

The accused made a court appearance in Sault Ste. Marie last week.
