It's been a slow process getting our city's outdoor rinks operational this year.

Above average temperatures have not been ideal in the ice making process, but crews have put in numerous hours trying to get the rinks ready.

"Our budget typically starts December 1st. We have 5 outdoor rinks and the guys all day basically try to make ice," says Andy Toth, Swift Current's Parks Manager. He adds that temperatures between the -12 to -15 range are typically what they prefer for getting ice ready for outdoor use.

At the moment, plans are to have the rinks open by this weekend and could remain open until the end of February. Weather permitting.
