The Perfect Boss Southwest Run for Shelter had quite the turnout for Swift Current's first ever marathon.

A total of 88 runners came out to participate in the 5k, 10k, half and full marathon events, raising a grand total of $9,874.45 to establish a youth emergency shelter in the southwest.

"We went into this adventure not knowing what our outcome would be, and we are overjoyed with how many participants we had, the positive feedback we got from all of the runners, and of course the amount of money that we have raised," said Vice President of the SW YES Board, Kayla Myers. "For now the money raised is going to go towards the operating costs for the Southwest Youth Emergency Shelter. We're looking at having $400,000 to $500,000 as a start up cost to start operating and serving youth in the southwest."

Myers adds they are currently working on the project start date for the shelter.
