The City of Swift Current's Infrastructure and Operations Division is advising residents of an overnight closure of the 2nd Avenue Northeast bridge closure.

Planned maintenance is scheduled to begin 8 p.m. Sunday evening and wrap up by 6 a.m. the next morning.

In a written media release Greg Parsons, on behalf of Infrastructure and Operations, explained that the work is required for adequate drainage.

“Crews will need the full width of the roadway for safe operation of the vac truck," he added. "Which is why it is planned for overnight servicing - to minimize impact to motorists and school transportation.”

Traffic will be re-routed with detours in place.

Drivers should expect delays during the ten-hour period and are encouraged to use an alternate route to reach their destination.

Emergency Services are prepared to use alternative access to the south side of the city in an emergency.

The City extended a thank you to residents for their patience.
