Shaunavon will be kicking off the festive season tonight with all kinds of holiday events, highlighted by the annual Parade of Lights, sponsored by the Shaunavon Chamber of Commerce.
The parade will start from the Christ the King Church parking lot at 7:00pm, and will make its way through the town, and should arrive downtown at around 7:15pm.
Other events include an Old Fashioned Christmas display in the Heritage Room at the Grand Coteau Heritage and Cultural Centre. There will be crafts starting at 5:30pm and a hotdog and hot chocolate sale from 5:30pm to 7:30pm in the Museum basement.
The Shaunavon School choir will perform at 6:30pm, followed by the lighting of the Community Christmas tree. stores in Shaunavon will be open to 9:00pm tonight for the start of late-night shopping.
The evening wraps up with a fireworks display at 9:15pm on the south end of Centre Street.
In Swift Current, the Light up the Future centennial event, light parade and downtown Christmas Tree Lighting will take place Friday evening.
