The Swift Current SPCA will be holding their first ever Pawpalooza summer kickoff event this Saturday.

Sara Filion, operations manager for the animal shelter, said the fundraiser will take place outside of the SPCA bookstore located downtown on 1st Ave NE.  She added that the road will be closed on this block for the outdoor fun to occur.

"We're doing this to kickoff summer, and wanted to make it family-friendly so anyone can come down to support our animals and the shelter," Filion said.

The summer 'pawty' will start at 10 a.m. and wrap up at 5 p.m. that day, with a variety of fun activities for everyone.  Including, but not limited to: face painting, a pet photo booth, diamond T axe throwing, and a raffle table with items from local shops and restaurants.

Walking on two legs is not a requirement to take part in the excitement; four legged family members are welcome to tag along and join in on the 'pawesomeness.'  In fact, the SPCA will be bringing some of their adoptable cats and possibly dogs for Swift Current residents to meet--and maybe even fall in love with.

Anyone wanting to help out with the event can contact the SPCA for details.
