The Government of Saskatchewan has announced more changes to the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program that are geared towards enhancing the financial assistance provided to clients.

Some of the PDAP improvements include: decreasing the municipal deductible amount from 0.15 percent of the municipalities taxable assessment to 0.1 percent to relieve the burden of excessive costs after a major event, allowing a 15 percent payment of estimated damage costs in the existing claim to be used for mitigation projects, establishing a new category of communal organizations, like Hutterite colonies, to meet the needs of additional groups, as well as reducing minimal revenue requirements for small businesses from $6,000 to $4,000 so more small businesses are eligible for financial assistance.

The total cost of the PDAP changes is estimated to be are $2.5 million.
