Flooding hits Maple Creek in June (submitted photo)

The Provincial Government is reminding those affected by flood damage this summer that they can still apply for assistance from the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.

The deadline for making claims is six months after a disaster, and in the case of Maple Creek and area, it hit on Saturday. PDAP administrators say some damage resulting from the floods is just becoming apparent now.

Public Safety Minister Yogi Huyghebaert says claims are still being accepted on a case-by-case basis, and are urging those who haven't made a claim to do so.

The government says 5000 PDAP claims have been made this year from 200 communities across the province, and the program has paid out over $11.5 million. The government estimates that total assistance for claimaints could be between $40 and $45 million.
