When a blizzard hits, the most important thing you should do is stay indoors.

Cathy Werbowetzky, Emergency Planning Coordinator with the City of Swift Current, says if you must head outside during a storm, prepare yourself.  She says if you're stuck on the road, stay in your vehicle, and run your vehicle once every half hour to stay warm.

Werbowetzky adds that every home should have an emergency kit with enough supplies to last 72 hours.  For more information on emergency kits, you can visit www.getprepared.ca.
