The Cypress Health Region is looking into building a Wellness Centre in Swift Current.
The centre will be a certified medical fitness facility with many different services from personal training, rehab of injuries or general weight loss. There were plans to build it near Cypress Regional Hospital as part of the city's proposed Integrated Facility, but the Health Region is looking at a stand-alone facility as another option.
A survey into the possibilty of a wellness centre was put out last fall with an open house meeting taking place in December, and the Health Region says they have had fantastic feedback from the buisness community.
"When we did the original survey on planning with the City there is about 82% that is in favour," said Brenda Schwan is the Executive Director of Human Resources at Cypress Health Region. "The last meeting we have had have been very positive and exciting."
The wellness centre is in the very early stages of development and they are currently working on a buisness case with the Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg, which has a similar wellness centre in their facility.
