It's been a busy period for RCMP across the province as a crackdown on drugs has taken place in the past couple of weeks.

Last week alone, over 190 charges were laid in several communities around the province, including here in the southwest.

Staff Sgt Al MacDonell with the Swift Current City Detachment says investigators around Saskatchewan spent a lengthy period of time preparing for the recent drug busts.  He says all of the charges originally stemmed from a couple of separate investigations.

MacDonell adds that drugs are a growing concern in a number of our local communities, namely marijuana and cocaine, but also the emergence of meth and ecstasy.
