Swift Current Police are reminding motorists to remain cautious when driving in the winter.

It's important to clean your windshield and windows of snow and ice, as well as to keep your licence plate, as well as your head lights and tail lights free of snow and ice, and be sure to have good winter tires on your vehicle.

Constable Morgan Sibley is currently in The Acting Corporal role at the Swift Current Municipal Detachment. He says  there are consequences for not keep your vehicle in winter driving condition. "There is offences under The Traffic Safety Act that if due diligence isn't followed you can be fined for not clearing your windshield, not having your tail lights or head lights visible, even having your licence plate covered is an offence."

He adds that the two main reasons for winter driving accidents are inattentiveness, and not remembering that vehicles respond differently in ice and snow compared to the dry summer conditions.
