A collision with a power pole in Swift Current has knocked out the power for some residents.

The pole, located next to Kal Tire on 11th Avenue Northwest, was sheered off at the base after a Low-Cost Towing truck had a dolly come off while towing a BMW.

The dolly, and the subsequent BMW, slid into the pole, separating it at the pavement from the buried substructure.

On site, overseeing repairs being made to the pole and power lines, was Stacey Munro, superintendent for City of Swift Current Light and Power.

"We had to have an outage to isolate," said Munro. "We've had to replace the pole. and rebuild the structure."

The cause of the disconnect between the dolly and the tow truck is unknown at this time. An estimated cost for the repair work was not yet available during the repair work.
