Following another eventful year for weather across the country, Environment Canada has released their Top 10 weather stories for 2007.

Coming in fourth was the tropical summer in the Prairies, which set records for both temperature and power consumption.  The high humidity also cancelled surgeries at some hospitals in the province.

Other prairie stories making the Top 10 include the record amount of severe weather, a record number of hailstorms, and Canada's first F5 Tornado, which hit Manitoba in June.

Other national weather events on the list were Hurricane Noel, which struck Atlantic Canada, and the major winter storms from earlier this month.

Honourable mentions include Saskatoon's worst blizzard in 50 years back in January, the flooding of Fishing Lake, and the record number of West Nile infections.

The top story of the year was the vanishing Arctic ice, which melted away 23% of its size in just two years.
