Early registration ends today for an upcoming walk run event at Lac Pelletier in early July, with all proceeds going to build a natural walking trail around the lake.

Run the Lake began last year to great success with 165 participants able to take part in the family friendly event with distances ranging from 1.6km to 17km.

Stephanie Pr-Pick Boss, husband Stephen Boss and Rej Stringer are organizing the event. Stephanie tells SwiftCurrentOnline says the event is ideal for families of all ages and levels.

"We're calling Run the Lake the coolest event in southwest Saskatchewan," says Boss. "When you cross the finish line it is right on the beach at Lac Pelletier so you can run off the dock and cool off! it is a family event and last year we had great success, this year we've hoping for even better! Anybody can participate so it is ideal for families of any age and all athletic levels."

"Last year at Lac Pelletier between the landscape and how beautiful it is.. the atmosphere is appealing for anyone to participate. One of the main thing about the run is that registration proceeds will go towards building a natural walking trail around the lake. A difference in course route is that a high percentage is on the walking trail this year."

The run begins and ends on the beach with the course designed this year to follow the path along the lake.

Those interested in registering can do so at runthelake.ca. The event will be held July 9th.
