The provincial government has announced that proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test result requirements will be coming to an end at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 14.

Proof of vaccination records and QR codes will be available through eHealth Saskatchewan for travel purposes and other jurisdictions.

Moe says the proof of vaccination requirement has run its course.

"It has increased our vaccination rates in the province substantially since it was introduced as we found ourselves in the Delta wave and as we found ourselves in the Omicron wave, which is much more transmissible," Moe said.

"The two vaccines do not prevent in any large way, the transmissibility with COVID, but it most certainly does help when it comes to the severe outcomes."

He added that the proof of vaccination policy was something he did reluctantly as it has caused divisions. Moe says it is now time to accept that people will have differing opinions.

"It's time for us also to heal the divisions in our communities over vaccinations, those divisions are in our families," Moe said.

"They're in our communities, but they are across our province and they're across this nation. It's time for us to come together as families, as friends, as communities and as a province and as a nation and it's time for us to reach out and support one another."

Mandatory mask requirements will remain in effect until the end of February.

The government is asking residents to continue to wear their best mask, take advantage of free rapid tests, regular handwashing, stay home when ill and get vaccinated including your booster shot when eligible.
