The Town of Shaunavon is looking to protect their green assets.

Town Council has entered into a four year agreement with Sawyer Tree Services to maintain the town's trees.

Both boulevard trees and trees in the town's parks have been looked after by Sawyer Tree Services in the past, but workers just couldn't keep up with the maintenance as Town Chief Administrative Officer, Tara Fritz, explained, "So then what we're hoping for is that we get everything up to speed and then we can get on to a better rotation."

Fritz adds that the town had budgeted $10,000 for tree care. The new agreement will cost about $40,000 per year.
