Flood barriers are put up at Ashley Park in Swift Current to protect against high water levels in Swift Current Creek in 2011

It is a story that just won't go away, and as a week of warm weather continues, flooding will be on more and more people's minds.

Minister of Government Relations Jim Reiter talked about how his office is working with municipalities around the province to prepare for the spring runoff.

"Our officials have met with different municipalities across the province and will continue to work with them to be prepared as possible," added Reiter. "We are concerned and are making preparations. First thing we have done, there is $182 million dollars from the growth and finacial security fund set aside that won't be used for anything else until we see the impact of the potential flooding."

Reiter noted that if the public is seeking more information on flood prep they should first contact their local municipality and can also check out gr.gov.sk.ca/flood.
