Camping enthusiasts will get their chance to reserve a provincial campsite starting next week.

Registration for some of Saskatchewan's provincial parks will open on Tuesday with registration for all 23 parks open by Thursday, April 13th.

"We're expecting a very good (registration) launch," Tiffany Stephenson Executive Director of Visitor Experiences for the Government of Saskatchewan said.

With this year's Canada 150 celebrations happening across the country and province, Stephenson shared some tips on how to make sure you get a site at the park of your choice.

"Go in and check your account in advance of the registration launch day for the park you would like to visit," she said. "Make sure your account is up to date and you're organized. Then just be ready that morning (of the parks registration launch) and you can enter into the queuing system between 6:40 a.m. and 7 a.m."

The provinces provincial parks will have their own Canada 150 specials on July 1st (Canada Day) and July 15th (Canada's Parks day), as all-day passes will be free. Each park will have their own separate events going on throughout the summer months to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday.

"We're hoping with the free entry that a lot of people take that opportunity to visit their local parks if they haven't been there before or just revisit them again," Stephenson said.

Saskatchewan's provincial parks will also be offering a province-wide geocaching program with a special coin.

"If you're a geocacher we would encourage you to get out and celebrate Canada 150 that way," she added.

The two provincial park camping sites in the southwest region of the province, Cypress Hills and Saskatchewan Landing, will see their registration open on April 9th and 10th respectively.
