Swift Current's five bridges are in the spotlight as the city applies for funding through the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program Agreement.

A special Swift Current City Council meeting was held yesterday for council to approve a resolution in regards to the $1.6 million in funding.

Trevor Feicht, Manager of Planning and Engineering Services, says they plan to use this money for the assessment and rehabilitation of the five bridges in the city, starting with 13th Avenue.  He says the tender process will close in April with completion of the project expected by the end of July.

Funds applied in 2010 will be used to commence work on the repairs that are needed to the 2nd Avenue railway overpass.
