As of November 1st, the Swift Current Public Library will have a slight adjustment in its daily hours.

Interim General Manager Donna Thiessen, details the reasoning behind the change in hours.

"I talked with the staff here and one thing they had noted was that if we are looking at doing some evening programming it would be more convenient to be open a little bit later in the evening. So we decided to adjust our hours and we've adjusted them so overall the total number of hours we are open each day will be the same."

Although the hours will be slightly adjusted the total number of hours that the library is open each day will remain the same as Thiessen explains.

"We're going to open an hour later in the morning instead of 9 am we will open at 10 am Monday to Friday and then we will be open until 8 pm Monday to Thursday and until 6 pm on Fridays."

Thiessen adds that they think this change will be more convenient as they have found that they are getting more people in the evening and this way they can offer additional programming and connect with the community in that way.

For those that are interested the library will be holding a family lego event this Saturday where Thiessen says parents can interact with their children.

She says that the library team as a whole would like to figure out how to provide programs in a way that is safe for the community and so that people are comfortable coming in. Those wishing to attend the event can call the library to register at 306-778-2752.
