Leader RCMP has arrived in Richmound and has set a temporary base of operations to monitor the situation with Romana Didulo.

They arrived this morning, bringing multiple vehicles and a remote operations centre.

Brad Miller, mayor of the Village of Richmound, is happy to see the RCMP providing reassurance to the people in the village.

"I think it will help," said Miller. "A family said to my wife, "It feels good to drive into town knowing they're there".

Romana Didulo has self-proclaimed herself as the 'Queen of Canada', and leads a group calling themselves the 'Kingdom of Canada". They have taken up residence in the yard of the former Richmound School at the invitation of the owner of the property.

Since arriving in town, the 'Kingdom of Canada' zealots have engaged the public with harassment, threats, and demands for public execution.

RCMP will be monitoring the situation directly now. Operating in town will allow them to respond to calls for service that emerge in Richmound quickly, and grant them the chance to detour any further incidents or altercations.

"I think it will give people some breathing room," said Miller.
