A Maple Creek resident remains missing, as the search area and resources have increased since the report went out five days ago. 

Byron Watson, a 23-year-old from Maple Creek was last seen leaving Lori Watson’s home on Lonsdale Street on November 26. The male is described as 5’8”, 175 lbs, with brown eyes and black hair. His attire is unknown. The RCMP released an update at 11:13 p.m. today stating that the search continues.

Keely Grasser, a spokesperson for Saskatchewan RCMP relayed the police involvement. 

“Since Byron Watson was reported missing on December 1st, Maple Creek has been checking places he's known to visit and continues to follow up on information received through the investigation,” explained Grasser. “There are ground searches in the area... The Civil Air Search And Rescue Association (CASARA), has helped along with the Saskatchewan RCMP remotely piloted aircraft systems, generally known as drones.” 

By December 2, CASARA’s drones were already beginning to scour the Nekaneet First Nation and surrounding areas. Saskatchewan RCMP’s search and rescue crew has also assisted, and the officers continue to work with civilian searchers in the area. 

The Town of Maple Creek has put out a call on social media for people to review their surveillance footage from between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Sunday, November 26. 

“What we're asking members of the public to focus on right now is reporting any information about as we're about to police,” said Grasser. 

If people have any information about Watson’s whereabouts, they are advised to call Maple Creek RCMP at 306-662-5550, or 310-RCMP to be redirected to their local detachment. Information can also be anonymously submitted through Crime-Stoppers.
