It’s time to indulge in the delicious annual festival that gives back to southwest healthcare.

After an absence last year, Ribfest is making quite a big comeback to Swift Current today with three total Ribbers competing for the titles of Best Sauce and Best Ribs.

Billy Bones BBQ, Buckeye BBQ and Blazin BBQ will be grilling up a storm for the public at the Living Sky Casino Parking Lot through Sunday, raising funds for the Dr. Noble Irwin regional Healthcare Foundation.

Executive Director of the foundation, Chris Martens, is excited for the event’s return.

“We are very appreciative and fortunate to be one of the beneficiaries from Ribfest,” he said. “It’s going to be great... an absolutely full weekend of pure deliciousness and we're excited for it.”

This year’s celebrity judges are well-known Swift Current favourites, including: Tyler Servant, Special Olympics Gold Medalist; Bernadette Navarro, Living Sky Casino Employee of the Year; Karla Wiens, CEO Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce; Ryan Switzer, City of Swift Current and Swift Current 57s; Bobbi Oscar, Remax Swift Current; Jeff Chambers, Jeff Chambers Golf Academy; Grace Dimayuga, Settlement Worker Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre.

There will also be a People’s Choice Award for the public to participate and vote in the event. Winners are announced on Sunday evening at 4 p.m.
