"Rain or shine, I'm going to be riding."

That's what Rider and one of the coordinators, Steve Hamm, said before starting the 9th Annual Rusty Cage Fun Run this morning.

At 10:30 a.m., 45 people came for breakfast and afterwards nine motorcyclists met at the Buffalo Brew Pub as a starting point for their ride. The ride is not only to remember fallen riders and friends, but it's also to raise money for local charities.

The route was started in Swift Current. The next stop was Morse, Hodgeville, Hazenmore, Cadillac, after all that then back to the Buffalo Brew Pub.

Hamm explained how the ride came to be.

"It was started nine years ago in remembrance of a gentleman named Simon Dahl. It's named Rusty Cage because Simon's favourite song was Rusty Cage by Johnny Cash. In remembrance of all our fallen friends, we have seven names on our bandanas that we ride for right now but there are a lot more fallen friends that we ride for."

Hamm also said they were able to raise $680 and throughout the year they will be taking the funds and donating them "100 per cent locally."
