Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park will have a new source of safe, clean drinking water for campers and cabin owners.

The park will be connecting into the Saskatchewan Landing Regional Water Pipeline Utility, which will supply water from the Kyle aquifer.

"We have to keep a secure water source to maintain safe drinking water for our users," said Director of Southern Parks Operation and Planning with the Provincial Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport, Marty Halpate, "and to make sure we have the quantity we will be able to use, which we have secured for our parks." Halpate added, he hopes to have the new pipeline up and running by next year.

"It will probably not be this year but the year after, we're starting to do the connections and we hope to be operational in one year."

The new pipeline will also serve residents in communities and farms north of the South Saskatchewan River mostly along Highway 4, with water treatment plants planned for Kyle and Elrose.
