If you've already started your holiday shopping, you've likely heard the familiar sound of bells at the Salvation Army's Christmas Kettles.

This year's goal is to raise $185 thousand, and as of Tuesday, the Salvation Army raised almost $70 thousand.  To make this year another success, Major Don Grad says the Salvation Army is looking for volunteers willing to do a two-hour shift.

"A kettle shift is only two hours. There are various locations around town between 10am and 8pm. We encourage people to make it a fun thing, say hello to people who come through," he said. "It's just a nice time to wish people a merry Christmas."

The funds raised at Christmas time will be used for the Christmas hamper, the Christmas community meal and the ongoing efforts of the Salvation Army and the food bank. Major Grad says all of the money raised stays within the community.

The Angel Tree at the Miracle Room in the Swift Current Mall will be receiving toys until December 7th. If you're interested in volunteering, you're encouraged to call the Salvation Army office at 778-0515.
