Some much-needed renovations are taking place at the Salvation Army church office, next week in Swift Current.

The floor of the gymnasium at the facility, formerly St. Patrick's School, needs to be replaced. Major Don Grad says that the location will be closed next all next week.

"We're going to close all of our public operations, Monday to Thursday next week. But just in case there's a bit of carry-over, we're going to close Friday, as well."

The Salvation Army location on 1st NW will re-open on Tuesday, August 4th.  The bread rack and the food bank operations will be closed during those times, as well.

Major Don Grad and his wife, Elizabeth are new to Swift Current. The officers arrived four weeks ago, having previously served in Vancouver's downtown running a Salvation Army transition and drug rehabilitation centre. He says Swift Current already feels like home.

"We rather enjoy it - it's a great town and we already feel like we belong here," he said.
